My Top 10 Manga

So, I've been a fan of manga for quite a while now, and after reading many of them, I have decided to compile a list of my top manga till date:-

10. Uzumaki - Curse of the Spiral - This horror manga by Junji Ito was by far one of the most interesting manga I have read so far, mainly because the plot seems so extremely extraordinary. It is mostly about this small Japanese town, the inhabitants of which get obsessed with spirals that occur both naturally and artificially; this leads to a series of grotesque events that have been portrayed quite graphically.*(COMPLETE)*

9. Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar & Shinetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-Bobo - Both of these manga are the most random and pointless comics I have ever read, however the sheer nonsense they depict often leave me no choice but to laugh in utter confusion and then wonder why I even started reading the manga in the first place. Being comedy genre manga, they tend to do a good job of getting people to laugh with the sheer randomness they present, however many people tend to find it stupid an immature because it is often not synonymous with the idea of comedy we get from the west.*(IRREGULAR UPDATES)*

8. AIKI - An action/martial arts manga with quite a few adult scenes, crass humour and interesting fights. The story revolves around a master martial artist, whose power was sealed by his father so that he did not misuse the enormous strength he possessed. His father passed away without undoing the seal, leaving Kunitoshi, the protagonist, with no way of regaining his power. He is soon recruited to be the teacher of a high school girl who needs his help. Most of the manga is about his exploits that follow. The manga is rather gripping, however it is definitely not for young children due to the adult elements present.*(IRREGULAR UPDATES)*

7. Naruto - Everybody's favourite manga, written and drawn by Mashashi Kishimoto follows the tale of a ninja named Naruto, and his exploits to become the greatest Hokage (Head Ninja) that anyone has ever known. There is an interesting set of characters, although a few of their introductory personalities seemed quite over the top and often unnecessary. The story line is split up into two arcs, one with the introduction of the characters and their development, and the latter having many of the characters grown up and their escapades now. The plot is interesting however it has never been too interesting compared to the other manga.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*

6. Toriko - This is an action manga with a difference, it has a cooking element added in it. The manga by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro deviates from the normal action manga by adding various elements of cookery into the scenes. The story follows Toriko, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Gourmet World and his exploits on creating the best menu that has ever been seen. Also accompanying him is the novice chef Komatsu, who has an extraordinary talent with food. The only drawback I have found in the manga is that the fights are often very one sided, and there are quite a few non-canon chapters that are released as well.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*

5. One Piece - This action manga by Eiichiro Oda is one of the most popular manga currently, it is about the journeys of a pirate named Monkey D. Luffy and his quest to become the greatest pirate that ever lived and get the grand treasure of One Piece, which is sought after by every pirate across the seas. The manga is decent, it has good comedy scenes from time to time and has a reasonably gripping story line. However the main point that stops it from being a top tier manga in my opinion is the fact that the action and comedy is often too intertwined and this does not allow the reader to truly enjoy the story. The fact that random events are shoved in at times just to provide comic relief is also quite disappointing.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*

4. Hajime no Ippo -   This is an interesting sports genre manga by George Morikawa, that focuses on boxing. The manga has been running since 1989 and in my opinion, the quality has never gone down at all. There are around 950+ chapters currently so it may seem daunting to catch up on to a person who has never read it, however the story is fast paced and enjoyable; there are many high quality fights, there is a large use of comedy and there are even heart wrenching moments as well. The only drawback I found in this series is that many of the fights often take quite a few chapters to finish, and the fact that all of the protagonist's(Makunouchi Ippo) matches tend to finish in the same way.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*

3. Fairy Tail -  An enjoyable action/fantasy manga created by Hiro Mashima. It centers around the magic guild, Fairy Tail and it's exploits to become the greatest guild in all of Fiore. The manga revolves around Fairy Tail battling various guilds, many of which are evil and are trying to harm the state of Fiore. The characters are well made, each have their unique identities and are all gripping due to various aspects of either their personality or their skills.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*

2. Katekyo Hitman Reborn - An action manga with a mafia theme by Akira Amano, it started off as a slapstick comedy manga that used so many jokes over and over again that it started feeling a little stale, however when the author decided to change the genre to action, it became much more interesting. It is interesting seeing the development of the title character Tsuna developing from a weak, no-good, cry baby into a mafia family head who is respected by the other member of his family and other mafia families as well. The support of Tsuna's tutor, Reborn is also very enjoyable. *(COMPLETE)*

1. Bleach - This action manga written by Tite Kubo has been my favourite manga over the years and it never ceases to disappoint, spanning around 5 arcs and around 479 chapters, the story-line is very absorbing with colourful characters and intense battle scenes, with a usual scattering of some comedy. The system of multi-formed weaponry is also very interesting. Most characters are given a kind of back story so as to make them more relate able, which tends to attract more attention from the readers.*(UPDATED EVERY WEEK)*
